Bracebridge Lions were out in full force on Sunday May 28th giving back to the community! In support of the Annual Annie Williams Picnic in the Park and the YWCA “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes”, our club purchased, BBQ’d and served over 570 free Hot Dogs for attendees. We worked with the Rotary Club of Bracebridge, the Rotary Club of Bracebridge-Muskoka Lakes, Town of Bracebridge and the YWCA to organize this free event. Members also helped direct traffic and parking and donated drinks, balloons and equipment! There was entertainment, activities, cake and ice cream, water, Paddle Club demonstrations, Fire Trucks, EMS, and the Lakeland Lift Truck. Well done team!
Bracebridge Lions Mike Guiry and Jodee Tonge (also representing the District of Muskoka) had the pleasure of attending an awards ceremony yesterday. The Elderberries choir of Gravenhurst voted to donate $1,000.00 of their hard earned funds to the Financial Assistance Partner’s Group (of which our club is a representative), along with 2 other community minded groups. The Elderberries invited them to attend one of their rehearsals and turned it into a small awards ceremony. T…hey had a photographer there to take a few pictures of the choir and then they invited each award winner to come up and accept their award. The FAPG is very grateful that the choir thought of this “team” to be worthy of receiving this money. This is especially so at this time as the FAPG funds are running low and will soon need to be topped up. FAPG funds are managed by the Muskoka Service Clubs and the District of Muskoka and given back to needy people in Muskoka.
Lions? In Bracebridge?

On Thursday, January 22, 2015, we were honoured to have District Governor Barb Ennis back at our club to make a very special presentation to Lion Lyle Cathcart for his 63 years of unequalled service to our club. He was awarded the Divisional Club Footprint award as well as a special banner on behalf of Lions Clubs International President Joe Preston. Lyle has held almost every position in the club and has been an inspiration for us all. Lion Lyle is well know for his contributions to the community and can be seen helping out tirelessly at any and all BBQ’s held in the community. His energy and enthusiasm eclipses those who are half his age. Besides his commitment to the Lions, Lyle is also a Mason and a Shriner. Congratulations Lyle! And a sincere thank you for all that you do!
