Lions Club of Bracebridge members spent time over the holidays preparing and serving food for a wonderful community Christmas Day meal, hosted by Gagnon’s Your Independent Grocer and the Lions. This is the 3rd year the club has been involved in this wonderful event. We served 225 dinners, delivered 61 and had 40 take outs for a total of 326 meals. Close to 110 hrs of time was donated by the Lions for prep, hosting and serving and 49 other community minded folks came out to help on Christmas Day. A special thank you to Lions Daniel Soucy and Art Meredith, and their Partners in Service Leslie and Janette.
We carry on this spirit all winter long serving meals for the Out of the Cold program every Wed evening. We begin in November and end in April and in that time serve over 1200 three course meals.
Bracebridge Lions John, Randy, Scott and Rick headed out to Sundridge on February 23rd to participate in the Curling tournament to raise funds for Vision Screening equipment. Looks like they had a great time (love the head-gear John!). Funds raised help provide vision screening equipment for our District that our club can use during our school visits.
Our Team of Lions Randy Bates, Scott McFarlane, Kelly Hart and Nicole Garon Did an excellent job on October 20th and our builders went out again a couple of weeks ago to help with the reconstruction of the Bracebridge Lions Cabin at Camp Dorset Dialysis Camp. They say pictures say 1000 words, and these pictures are evidence of the effort and hard work that our Lions put into making our community a better place. Thank you Team Dorset!
